Drummer Vern Mobley stopped by my house last weekend and we had a fantastic conversation. His band, Fusion Jazz Trio, is going to celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2012. He told me about the band from the early days to today, and the importance of the chemistry that he shares with his band mates. They have been playing together for so long that they know where each other is going in a song. This makes it a lot of fun for them as performers, and makes for an exciting show for their fans. Vern is very active in the local music scene. He wears many hats, and he talked with me about how he balances family and music. We also talked about his roots in gospel music, and how is father was a major musical influence in his life. Vern was a lot of fun to interview, and he shared many greats stories and insights. You can find him online at http://www.vernmobley.com/fr_thebeginning.cfm and http://www.fusionjazztrio.net/. I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did. Let me know!
