Sharon is the singer with
the UK band The Amplifires. We recently had a very cool Sunday
morning phone conversation, and I am eager to share it with
you. Sharon and I are the same age and have a lot in
common. We talked through the similarities of our home towns,
and some of the bands that we admire. She told me
how The Amplifires formed, and talked about her local
music scene. She comes from an area that has given us a
lot great music through the years. Bands like ABC, Human
League, Def Leppard, Arctic Monkeys and Pulp are all local to
Sharon. It is nice to see how her band fits into this musical
tradition. She told me about their
whirlwind tour of the US back in 2009, and how great it felt to
have audiences singing her lyrics back to her. We talked
about their first album "Fire on the Moon" which came out
in 2008, as well as their new single "Fantasy Bride". You can
