Artist Connection Podcast

The Artist Connection Podcast has been offering long form audio interviews with artists from the past, present, and future since 2011. Hear what inspires them to get out of bed each morning and practice the craft that they love. My guests include people that I truly respect from many different backgrounds. Each episode provides a unique mix of music and conversation. Enjoy!

Steph Paynes is the guitar player and founder of Lez Zeppelin. I bought their first album back in 2007, and have been a fan ever since. In my introduction, I make reference to Lez Zeppelin as being a "tribute band". I struggled with that introduction right up until I hit "record" for the interview. To me, they are so far beyond that in terms of attention to detail and overall passion for the music that they are playing, but so much of their press references that label. Looking back, I am glad that I started that way, because it gave Steph a chance to set the record straight and really address her feelings about it. We also talked about her musical influences and the recording process that they use to get that truly authentic sound. Steph and her band mates live every note of the music that they play, and it translates well in their live shows and recorded music. You can learn more about them at http://www.lezzeppelin.com/. Steph told me about her experiences working as a journalist for NME in London, and the benefits of understanding the music business from both sides.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. If you reach out to Steph, tell her that you heard her at the Artist Connection Podcast!
