Artist Connection Podcast

The Artist Connection Podcast has been offering long form audio interviews with artists from the past, present, and future since 2011. Hear what inspires them to get out of bed each morning and practice the craft that they love. My guests include people that I truly respect from many different backgrounds. Each episode provides a unique mix of music and conversation. Enjoy!

Punk Rock Royalty returns to The Artist Connection Podcast! Mike Watt first joined me on the show way back in Episode 17. Three years later finds him here again, and I couldn't be more excited! It was great to catch up with him. I have been a fan for so many years, and have followed his career through Minutemen, Firehose, dos, solo records, The Stooges, Missingmen, Secondmen, and now his latest three piece "il sogno del marinaio". They just released their second album called "Canto Secondo" and will hit the road for a 53 date tour in the US. This episode also serves as a musical tribute to Mike's music over the years. I am featuring songs from Minutemen's 1984 release "Double Nickels on the Dime, a solo track from "Ball-Hog or Tug Boat?" (with some VERY special guests), and two brand new songs from the latest album. These tracks barely scratch the surface of his musical output, but they are among my favorites. After you listen, please do some exploring of your own. You can start at www.mikewatt.com. The 2014 tour dates can also be found there. I plan on attending the Philadelphia show, and can't wait! If you reach out, please tell Mike that you heard him here. Enjoy!
