Bev "BC" Conklin has been a
fixture on the blues scene for close to 20 years. She is a very
powerful singer, and an inspiration to many aspiring blues artists.
She was kind enough to invite me to her house one Sunday morning to
talk about her life and music. We built a quick and easy
rapport, and we talked for an almost an hour before I hit record on
my mic! When the interview started, Bev shared the
journey that got her where she is today. She told
me about her travels all over the world, and finally
settling in the Lehigh Valley. We also talked about her foundation,
The Women's Blues Alliance, and her involvement in many weekly jams
in the area. She also talked through her balancing act of
professional day job and working musician. She has been doing
both for 20 years, and she likes to stay busy. She and her
band have a very active performance schedule. The day
that we met she was preparing for a 7 hour jam! Please check
out her website for additional details and show dates (www.thebccombo.com). I hope to
meet with her again very soon!
