You read that right, gang! I made a phone call to legendary musician and all around great guy Mike Watt. Mike co-founded the bands Minutemen, dos, and Firehose to name just a few. He shared many stories about the early days, D. Boon, and life in San Pedro. We also talked about what it's like out on the road, and the current music scene. Mike stays very active and is involved in many projects. He is an inspiration to many musicians, including myself. I told him about my teenage memory of a Saturday morning in a dusty record store buying the Minutemen album "Double Nickels on the Dime" and Husker Du's "Zen Arcade". Mike told me that "Zen Arcade" is what inspired them to make "Double Nickels" a double album. He also shared the meaning of the title. Please visit Mike at his website www.mikewatt.com for photos, tour dates, and to purchase his music including his latest "hyphenated-man". Enjoy! (Photo by John Eder)
