Rob Hann is a photographer based
in New York City. We talked about his upbringing on his family's
farm in Salisbury, England. He told me about his move to London,
and his work there on a fire brigade. He also made some cross
country trips in America where he worked many jobs. He spent time
as a fashion model and travelled the world. He then pursued a life
behind the camera, and has made his living as a photographer ever
since. He has been living quite an interesting life, and it was
great to meet him and talk with him about it. He truly lives for
his art, and I admire that. Rob's website (http://www.robhann.com/)
includes many examples of his work. I personally
love how the bright blue sky contrasts the sometimes decaying
images that act as his subjects. Rob has a way of taking decaying
cars and abandoned service stations and turning them into objects
of beauty. There is an amazing sense of texture in his work, and it
really makes his pictures come alive. Rob can be found selling his
prints in SoHo on Prince St between Greene and Wooster. I am
looking forward to meeting him in person on my next trip to NYC. If
you see him first, tell him Matt sent you!
