Episode 010 - John Lee Hooker Jr

John Lee Hooker Jr made a recent tour stop in Bethlehem, PA. I was honored to interview him backstage before the show.  He shared some great stories about his father, touring in Europe, and overcoming some personal problems to get back on track with his music career.  This man comes from a legendary blues family, and he is continuing the tradition with his own style.  His show later that night was amazing.  He had everyone up and dancing by the end, and even gave me a shout out from the stage!  I was really looking forward to this interview and show.  The Hook delivered!

Episode 009 - DeXperience

DeXperience is an Island Pop group based in The Lehigh Valley.  I met with Qbah, J-Mal, and A.O. in an Allentown recording studio.  We talked about how they each bring a certain flavor and style to the group. They are very enthusiastic, and you can really tell how passionate they are about music.  They talked about where they are from, and how their backgrounds influence the songs that they create today.  Even though we just met, they made me feel right at home.  The friendship and mutual respect that they have for each other is obvious.  I really enjoyed spending time with them.  They also expressed appreciation for their family and friends.  Qbah shared how much he appreciates the group's collaborations with Latin Grammy winner Baby Ranks.  They have a single available for download at iTunes and Amazon.  They also have other singles available at their ReverbNation site ( http://www.reverbnation.com/dexperiencemusic).  These guys really have a great sound, and are going to be huge.  They don't just do it for themselves.  They participate in several charity events, and are very eager to give back to those in need.  Check out their live shows.  They promise to keep you dancing!

Episode 008 - Eric Tessmer Band

The Eric Tessmer Band is a blues band from Austin, Texas. They started the second leg of their tour right here in Bethlehem, PA.  I had the opportunity to watch their sound check, and then sit down with them in the green room for an interview before the show.  It was cool!  They are very talented, and are building quite a following with each stop of their tour.  We talked about life on the road, some of the greats that Eric has shared the stage with, and their upcoming tour stops in India.  We also talked about some of their past band experiences, their influences, and the Austin music scene.  I read online that you have to see this band live.  I can tell you that the rumors are true!  The energy is incredible to experience.  Words cannot describe Eric's playing.  He pays respect to the players that have influenced him, but the style is all his.  Danny G's bass playing is tighter than three coats of paint, and Rob beats those drums like they owe him money.  Put it all together, and you get the ultimate live experience.  If they are anywhere near you on this tour, you have to come out and see for yourself!

Episode 007 - Phil Hawk

The Hawk family has made music their business for many years. Phil is a fantastic musician and owner of Hawk Music Center in Bethlehem, PA.  His father started the business in 1973, and Phil is carrying on the tradition.  I have been going into that store for as long as I can remember.  I bought my first guitar and amp there. It was always cool for me to go in when I was first learning and watch Phil play any song by ear.  You could not stump him...I know because I tried on more than one occasion.  Phil is still very active in the local music scene and Hawk Music continues to inspire the musicians of tomorrow to get started on their musical journey. We had a great after hours conversation in his store. Phil shares many stories that he hasn't talked about in years.  He tells about jam sessions in the garage, being in bands with his family, and the many customers who have come through his store over the years. Phil and his family show us that a music store can be a viable business if you are doing it for the right reason. The Hawk family certainly is.
