Episode 215 - Jennie Vee

My guest today is musician Jennie Vee! She was born in Toronto and currently lives in NYC. I first saw her while browsing Facebook one Sunday afternoon. The image of her playing a Rickenbacker on a NYC rooftop made me want to learn more. This is the kind of experience that makes me love the internet and social media. I reached out, and within a week I had the chance to interview her. Not only is Jennie a talented musician, she also has some amazing stories that she was happy to share with me. She has lived all over the world, has been in some incredible bands, and now writes and records songs that reflect those experiences. She even had the chance to show Joe Strummer around Toronto one night. That story alone is worth the price of admission! Two of her songs are featured here. Learn more about her at Facebook, www.twitter.com/jennieveenyc and www.soundcloud.com/jennieveenyc. If you reach out, please tell Jennie that you heard her here first. Enjoy!

Episode 214 - Tommy Wallach

Tommy Wallach is a Brooklyn based writer and musician. His new record "I Meant It To Be Sweet" is out now on Rude Fox Records. Two songs from it, along with his cover of the classic Paul Simon track "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" are featured with this episode. The cover song is from his 2008 ep. We talked about the new album, as well as his writing career. He strikes a nice balance between being a writer and a musician. These two passions will come together in 2015 when he releases his book "We All Looked Up" along with a companion cd. Learn more about him at www.tommywallach.com. If you reach out to Tommy, please let him know that you heard him here first. Enjoy!

Episode 213 - Michael Butler

Today's show is a very special "Rock and Roll Geek Show" Episode of The Artist Connection Podcast! It features my interview with host Michael Butler, as well as music from bands that Michael and I share as influences. I had the opportunity to cohost an episode of his show a few months ago, and it is an honor to have him on mine. The Rock and Roll Geek Show is about to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary! That is a huge milestone, and the quality of the show is always consistent. I have been listening for most of that time and I am a huge fan! Michael is currently participating in the "Dog Days of Podcasting" where he is posting an episode a day for 30 days. Check him out at www.rockandrollgeek.com. You can also follow him on Twitter at www.twitter.com/rnrgeek and Facebook at www.facebook.com/rnrgeek. You can also subscribe to his show on iTunes. I close out the show with a brand new track from the band Torpedohead called "Shanghide". Learn more about them at www.reverbnation.com/torpedohead. Please reach out to Michael and tell him Matt sent you. Enjoy!

Episode 212 - Jackslacks

Today's episode features music and conversation with San Diego based musician Jackslacks! That alone is enough to make it special, but it is also my first interview to be played on Beyond the Dawn Radio! I am honored to partner with T Dawn and have an interview featured on her show each month (www.beyondthedawnstudios.com). Jackslacks is a cool rockabilly singer, drummer, and guitarist. We talked about our shared love of Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Jeff Beck, and the Stray Cats. He just released his seventh solo project called "Other Side". I am happy to say that the title track is included here! It is a very special song recorded with members of his family, and is an homage to his father who recently passed away. I end the show with "Generations Hypnotized" from 2013. Learn more about this talented artist at www.reverbnation.com/jackslacks. If you reach out, please let Jackslacks know that you heard him here first!
