We first met TESS back in Episode 060. He has been hard at work on his follow up to "Magpie" for the past year, and it felt like a good time to revisit my earlier interview with him in case you missed it. As an added bonus, I called him recently to get an update. That brand new 15 minutes is included with the episode! You can learn more about him at
http://www.tessnotes.com/cv  and www.reverbnation.com/tess
. I will have him back for a brand new interview in just a few months. Meanwhile, enjoy the update and the look back. Tell him Matt sent you!

Episode 118 - Gary Hodges

Gary Hodges is an amazing musician with decades of experience in the music business. We had been in email contact since December and it was great to finally talk with him. He told me about his musical journey that took him from his childhood in Texas, to spending time in California, and finally settling in the Branson area of Missouri. Sprinkle in tour stops all over the world, and it is safe to say that he has seen it all. Gary shared so many cool stories during our conversation. Even though this was a phone interview, it has the feel of two old friends talking music on the porch. We talk about the music business and the changes in technology that he has witnessed through his career, as well as his work on the great "Buckingham Nicks" album from the early 70's. Three tracks from his "Keep on Growing" album are featured on this episode. Please be sure to check out the rest of the album. It includes 19 songs total. Learn more at www.garylynnhodges.com. Sit back and join me in this walk through Gary's life. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

Episode 117 - LAW

I recently paid a visit to Planet 12 and had the honor of meeting with L*A*W. He is an incredible talent and an all around world class performer. He plays many instruments, raps, sings, dances...you name it. He has been an entertainer his whole life, and learned a lot from his grandfather, the late great Sam "Bluzman" Taylor! L*A*W shared some fond memories of their time together. We also talked about his time working with Amy Winehouse and the music that he continues to make with George Clinton. In addition to his musical talents, he is also a music historian. This interview may be long, but it was not long enough. There were so many other topics that I want to cover with him. The good news is that he has agreed to join me again in the very near future. Two songs from his album "Tha Planet 12 Syndrome" are featured with this episode. That album is a musical journey from start to finish. After you listen to this, I encourage you to seek out the whole album. Learn more at www.planet12law.com. He is also on Twitter and Facebook. If you reach out to him, please mention that you heard him here first. Enjoy!

Episode 116 - SilverSpark

I recently called over to the UK to speak with Carley and Matt from SilverSpark. We had been emailing back and forth for a month or so, and it was great to finally meet them. We got along right from the start, and I am honored to have them kick off 2013 on my show! We had a lot to talk about. They told me how they left their office jobs to pursue a career in music. They had a shared vision, and they went for it. Four and a half years later, they are still making their living as musicians. It is an inspirational story that shows that people can follow their dreams and make it work. We also talked about their approach to music, and their recent efforts in adding a drummer and bass player to the mix. We have a lot of shared influences. We talked about what bands like REM, Stereophonics, and the Black Keys mean to us. Learn more about them at http://www.silverspark.co.uk/. Two of their songs are also featured on this episode. I encourage you to seek out the rest of their music. If you reach out, please tell them that you heard them here first. Enjoy!
