Episode 149 - George Hrab and The Geologic Orchestra LIVE

This is a very special episode of my show. February 18 2012 was an amazing night thanks to George Hrab. He and the Geologic Orchestra played at the Icehouse in Bethlehm, PA. I took my kids and we had a great time! I have been to many of his shows through the years...solo performances at intimate venues, "get up on your feet" shows with the Philadelphia Funk Authority, and performances with his full band. I knew right away that this night was going to be something special. Several months of planning went into it, and it certainly paid off. The band was as tight as three coats of paint and George was on FIRE!!!! He shared stories, played all of his hits both new and old, and even got some members of the audience into the act. Sprinkle in a few special guests and you have a night to remember. The first hour of that show is featured here! After you listen, please go to www.CDBaby.com/GeorgeHrab to purchase the full show. You can get either the audio of the concert, or the DVD which includes TONs of bonus content. Better yet, why not buy both? It is well worth it. Please reach out to George and tell him that Matt sent you! Enjoy!!!!

Episode 148 - Douglas Thomas

Douglas Thomas is a cool singer/songwriter. I met him last month in Philadelphia at the World Cafe Live. He was the featured performer at a Philly Rising showcase. I was very impressed with his set, and I knew I had to have him on the show. We had a great conversation about his life and his music. He has an ep out now called "Trimmings". Two tracks from it are featured here, along with a brand new track! You can learn more at www.douglasthomasmusic.bandcamp.com. Please reach out to him and tell him that Matt sent you!  Enjoy!

Episode 147 - Xander Demos

Xander Demos is an amazing metal guitar player currently based out of Pittsburgh, PA. He and I have a lot in common. I found out that we were born in the same year, and shared many similar influences. Guitarists like Steve Vai, Jason Becker, Neil Schon, and John Sykes are just a few of the players that really grabbed us in our formative years. Xander told me about his album "Guitarcadia". He allowed me to include two songs from there with this episode, but I encourage you to find it and buy a copy for yourself. He has two cool covers on it from the 80s. Track it down to see what they are! We also share some dislikes, and took a side trip discussing the dark days of grunge. Many people say it came along at a time when rock needed a change, but not us! Xander and I had a great time with this interview, and I hope to have him on again. Learn more at www.xanderdemos.com. Enjoy!
