Episode 086 - Damon Martin

Damon Martin is a wonderful composer from Scotland. I was recently asked to write a magazine article on his "Cold Reading" album from his Traumatosis project. It is his musical rejection of psychics. I listened to the album several times before I spoke with him, and it is incredible! Experiencing an album like this reminds me of why I love music so much. It takes the listener on a journey through some very dark places. It is meant to be experienced as a complete piece, but Mr. Martin allowed me to include three songs with this episode to give you a taste. You can purchase the complete album at http://traumatosis.bandcamp.com/. I really enjoyed learning about his life, music, and inspirations. We covered a lot of ground during this interview, and I hope to have him on again very soon. Learn more about him at http://traumatosis.com/index.htm. I will let you know when my Skeptical Inquirer article is available. Enjoy the interview, and tell Mr. Martin that Matt sent you!

Episode 085 - T Dawn

T Dawn is a singer/songwriter, radio personality, and tireless promoter of all types of music. I had the pleasure of talking to her about her life, career, and inspirations. She was very generous with her time, and I learned so much about her. She has a very strong internet presence, and we discussed the impact of social media on the music business. We also talked about her fans which she calls "Starlights". T Dawn has such a strong passion for music and is dedicated to her friends and family. She was nice enough to allow me to include two of her songs with this episode. You will hear "Controlled by Vanity" before the interview, and "Highest Light" right after it. She is currently in the studio, and I am looking forward to her new songs. You can learn more about her at www.tdawn.com. She is an extremely positive person, and she is welcome back anytime. Enjoy!

Episode 084 - Phil Soussan

Today's guest is a music legend! Phil Soussan is multi-Instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, VP of the Grammy Awards...the list goes on and on! I have been a fan of his since 1986 when I saw him perform with Ozzy on The Ultimate Sin tour. He also wrote "Shot in the Dark", which is the track that went to #1 with Ozzy. Phil released his own version of the song in 2011 and it is included with this episode! He has worked with so many amazing musicians over the years including Jimmy Page, Joe Lynn Turner, Vince Neil, Steve Lukather, Billy Idol to name just a few. In addition to the many albums that he has played on and contributed songs to, he also has two solo albums. The latest from 2011 is called "No Protection". The title track is included here. The first was "Vibrate" released in 2006. I end this episode with the lead track from there called "Human Race". You can learn more about Phil at http://philsoussan.com/home. You will find a cool bio, photos, videos, and a store to buy his music. There is nothing better than meeting one of your heroes and finding out that he is a great guy with some incredible stories.  Enjoy!!!!

She met up with Grammy award winning producer Rob Christie and started planning her first album. "All My Secrets" is the result of that collaboration. Episode 082 - The Narrows

The Narrows are an amazing three piece band from Manchester. I called over to the UK to speak with Phil Drinkwater (vocals, keys), Dave Battle (guitars, backing vocals, keys), and Adam Hynes (guitars, backing vocals, keys, production). Listeners of my show may remember Adam from Episode 024. I was excited to catch up with Adam and meet the rest of the band. They are about to release their "The Eve of Invasion" album on 6/4/12. I heard it, and it is a fantastic collection of songs. I have all of their previous singles and EPs, and they have outdone themselves with this one. It is being released on Cognitive Dissonance Records, and will be available in limited edition vinyl, a deluxe cd set, and download. You can learn more at http://www.thenarrows.co.uk/. The band was nice enough to allow me to include a new song from the album called "There are Ghosts in These Machines", as well as an earlier track from their "Through Constant Decay" EP called "Noir". Enjoy!
