Episode 182 - Mike Scala

Today's guest is musician Mike Scala. He is from Brooklyn, NY. Music is his life, and it keeps him very busy! I caught up with him on a cold NYC afternoon. He was in the process for preparing for a trip to Australia and Hong Kong. We talked about his life, his music, influences, and his dream of one day playing Madison Square Garden. We both have great memories of seeing shows there and I know his dream will come true. We also talked about his charity work with the Mike Scala Foundation for Youth. Two of his songs are featured with this episode. Learn more at www.mikescala.com. Mike will be performing in my hometown in August. I will be there! If you reach out, tell him you heard him on The Artist Connection Podcast! Enjoy!

Episode 181 - Steve Arrington

Where to begin with this very special episode...My guest is the legendary Steve Arrington. He is a singer, producer, drummer, songwriter, engineer, and minister. I am honored to have him on the show! He was so generous with his time and he shared some incredible stories and experiences with me. We talked about his early days in music, his funky 70's work with Slave, and his various solo projects through the years. He also told me what it feels like to work with and have the respect of the up and coming artists of today. Steve is a wealth of musical knowledge and I hope to have him on again very soon. He allowed me to feature some of his music, and picking two songs was a nearly impossible task. I went with the Slave song "Watching You" from the 1980 gold album "Stone Jam". Closing out the show is "I'm on Fire" from his 2009 album "Pure Thang". If you don't know Steve's music, please look into it right now. It is tight, funky, inspirational and all points in between. Learn more at www.stevearringtonmusic.com. Special thanks to my good friend L*A*W for putting the wheels in motion and introducing me to Steve! If you reach out, tell him that Matt sent you! Enjoy!!!

Episode 180 - The SoapGirls

I recently had the opportunity to call over to South Africa to speak with The SoapGirls! Camille and Noemie are Parisian born and raised and now consider themselves French African. This interview was a lot of fun. Their personalities and music are infectious! Their career started by wearing identical outfits and singing & dancing to sell handmade soap. They did this for eight years and met people from all over the world and absorbed the languages and cultures of the tourists that they met. They are also very interested in giving back and are involved with many charities. They allowed me to include two songs with this episode. You are going to love them! Find them on Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, and www.thesoapgirls.com. If you reach out, please tell them that you heard them here first. Enjoy!

You really feel like you are in the room with him. Two tracks are featured with this episode. Be sure to check out the rest! You can learn more at www.philjacksonmusic.com. I enjoyed this conversation and hope to have him on again very soon. If you reach out to Phil, please let him know that you heard him here first. Enjoy!
