TESS is an incredible singer/songwriter from the UK. He has a beautiful album that is available now called "Magpie". He and I have grew up in the 70's listening to many of the same artists that inspired this record. Acoustic rock and folk albums by David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, and John Lennon provide the foundation of the sound, but the songs themselves are all TESS. They are complex, personal and moving. This is the kind of record that requires multiple listens to appreciate the many layers. We talked about his background, influences, and the festival season in the UK. He also talked about working on his follow up album, and the direction that it may take. TESS is allowing me to include two songs on this episode. "Big Room" starts us off, and "Lullaby for Maisy Jane" immediately follows the interview.  I love the whole album, but these two songs are a good introduction to his work. You can learn more about him at http://www.tessnotes.com/cv and www.reverbnation.com/tess. Enjoy the songs, enjoy the interview, and reach out to Tess and tell him that you heard him here first!
